Kirby of the Stars!

Kirby walking

I think I've played more Kirby games than almost any other franchise, so I thought it deserved its own page! My goal is to play as many as I can! I want to get through as many mainline games as I can, and then move on to spinoffs after that.

My Favorite? (So Far!)
Kirby Super Star!

Kirby flying on a star!

I love all the gamemodes! There is so much replayability! It was one of the first Kirby games I ever played, so it's kind of nostalgic to me. There are so many small but memorable moments to me, like the RPG-style boss, the minecart sections between the Great Cave Offensive stages, or racing on a Wheelie to escape the Halberd before it crashes into the sea.

Super Star Ultra

I beat Revenge of the King. The final level was so fun lol, it was very entertaining to watch King Dedede scramble to throw everything and everyone to hold Kirby off. Even poor Bandana Dee was thrown under the bus! In any case, I thought the credits scene was nice. Just King Dedede smiling tiredly at his subjects, who for some reason continue to support him and tolerate his nonsense, as they slowly arrive by his side.

In general I really like how low-stakes the whole thing was. It was just normal Kirby shenanigans, and the whole thing was pretty inconsequential (though I suppose world-threatening dangers is moreso the norm in Kirby games than anything else, really). The only thing that happened when King Dedede lost is that he got sent flying out of the castle, which I'm inclined to believe he has to be pretty much used to by now.

So after that, I moved on to Meta Knightmare Ultra. I love how Meta Knight controls. His movements are so snappy, and he does a lot of damage. The whole having to tap the screen to use abilities thing is pretty clunky, but I don't need to use it that often anyway, so I guess it's fine. All in all, I'm having a good time!

Super Star Ultra

I beat Milky Way Wishes. I blew through it faster than I thought I would. I remember when I first played Super Star, I struggled so much with it, especially the final boss. I guess this means I've improved somewhat!

I moved on to Revenge of the King after that. I guess this is a new one for Super Star Ultra, and I like it! The replaced enemies are very fun. Very similar to the originals, but different enough to give everything a fresh coat of paint. Plus, it's also nice to see a few returning faces from older games. Other than that and the updated graphics, it's very much standard Kirby fare--not that that's a bad thing, of course! In any case, I'm interested to see how this new gamemode plays out.

Super Star Ultra

I'm almost done with Kirby Super Star Ultra! I just finished Revenge of Meta Knight, so I'm moving on to Milky Way Wishes. For some reasons, of all the gamemodes, I don't really remember Milky Way Wishes that well... Like, I remember the story and the final boss, but not the levels. I guess that's probably because you unlock it later, so I didn't play it as much as the others. But that's okay! It'll be like playing it for the first time all over again!!

In terms of how I feel about SSU, I really like it! I mean, I guess it would be hard to mess up with such good source material, but still. It's a solid remake; takes all the good parts of the old game, improves performance, and updates the "outdated" bits. While I'll always have a soft spot for SS's graphics, the artstyle in the newer games is also really appealing. All in all, I'm having a good time ^_^
